the fact is...

"I wonder if ever you change human beings
with arguments alone:
either peppering them with little sharp facts
or by blowing them up with great guns of truth.
You scare 'em, but do you change 'em?
I wonder if ever you make any real difference in human beings
without understanding them and loving them.
For facts are not to be thrown at people
like dishes or vegetables,
but somehow warmed into them."

  1. you do veggies so well my friend, and those carrots look delicious. I eat a near ton of carrots weekly, they're my goto veggie. Nearly every lunch I have a couple large handfuls of the baby carrots you get in the grocery. I can go through a HUGE bag in a week. Too bad my eyesight isn't improved, lol. Gorgeous my dear.
    Hugs,
    Jenn

  13. Beautiful! I love how you cropped this and made it have such visual interest with color, texture and line. Orange, in my book, is one of the happiest colors around. I love coming here every friday to have my senses be filled with such beautiful artwork and words. Happy Friday!!

  15. Oh my goodness, now those are the wisest words I've heard recently. Can we make the entire U.S. Congress take 30 minutes of silence to reflect on this sentiment? (No. But it was a good idea.) :P

I love the carrots! Beautifully rendered. I was just telling someone recently how freshly picked carrots are the best tasting. And sometimes the whole carrots in the store are wonderfully sweet. But I rarely get that with the cut up "baby" style carrots.

  16. Oh my goodness - what an amazingly lifelike painting of those carrots - simply stunning! And I felt like that quote could've been written for me - I find myself often trying to wear my meat-eating husband down with facts on animal cruelty as if he'll change his ways if only he hears enough horror stories. I need to remember not to throw so many of those facts out perhaps!!

  30. Minnemie- your artwork is beautiful. You have a lovely style and you have transformed ordinary carrots into something beautiful! You asked on my blog about MoM. It opens every Sunday night (Sydney,Aus time) at 6pm and stays open until Thursday night. I can see that this image would suit it perfectly:)
